Open Radiators
The new heating which is being installed is getting there, slowly. One of the major jobs which they performed over the half term break was to bleed the system dry and carry out some major re-fitting work to some of the pipes.
The system bleed must have taken hours. All the radiators had to be emptied. Bearing in mind that we have about 100 classrooms/labs, and about the same number of offices and store rooms, and what feels like miles of corridoors, all with their own radiators, I would have thought that it would have taken the bestter part of a day getting the system dry.
Trouble came when they re-filled the system. They hadn't bothered to close all the radiators. We now have one very wet, soggy, and needless to say, smelly lab. Rather unfortunate that the radiator that had been left open was one of the ones over the carpet. The humidity in that room is sky high, with the dehudidifyers on full whack 24/7.
Obviously the room is now completely unusable. Classes have been moved into the form room next door, but its no ideal. The room really can only sit about 20/25 students comfortably, and packing in 30 odd resembles an educational game of sardines.
